At least in the Peds CVICU (the cardiac side of the PICU), they had a wonderful practice; At 3 o'clock (AM/PM) they would all take 4-5 minutes to gather at the desk and see 'where everyone's at' and solve any problems (are we caught up on tasks, charting, breaks). Ex: I still need to do two central line dressing changes and one bath/weight, but I'm not done with charting. Response from charge/resource RN: I can do the line dressings with you and start the bath/wt while you chart.

I traveled here in the critical care float pool team, where I would float to CVPICU, PICU, and NICU primarily however we did float to medsurg units as well. I was here for 12 weeks from Jan. till March and this was the most stressful assignment I have taken and I spoke with other travelers who confirmed this was the worst. Specifically patient load was extremely heavy and they would pair you with patients that needed to be 1:1. I had no more than 2 patients in CC and in med surg it was 4 patients. The charting system is Sunrise which I am not a fan. There is a mix of experienced nurses of 2 years and new grads. They have been losing their more experienced nurses these past few months. The nurses are all for the most part nice and will give you help with you ask. Overall you only ever talk to the nurses that are right next to you. Parking is a nightmare but it is free. I don’t plan on taking another assignment here but the location for being in AZ during the winter was great!
