Good experience all around. It is a busy level 2 hospital. Excellent management and charge nurse in PACU. Assignments were fair and done in order. Rarely ever had 2 patients at the same time. If you did, your first patient was recovered and waiting for a room. You will always get your lunch break and a second break!!! Travel friendly. Well managed. They have a 24 hour transport department!! Santa Fe is a fabulous city though housing is expensive. Of note is that car theft and car break-ins are notoriously high in NM. My car was broken into. I definitely recommend this facility if you don't mind being busy your entire shift and want to learn new skills or just keep your skills set up to date.

Best hospital I've ever worked at, but some people stick it to the travelers. Mostly everyone is nice, but one particular charge nurse on med surg floor 2100 will max out staff nurses and make the traveler or travelers take every admisssion. I had one night where every admission was mine. So while everyone else was sitting, I was running around for up to 7 patients. Expect to float a lot. Also, it's difficult to find housing in this area because it's a retirement/vacation hub. Most people commute 45 minutes to an hour from Albuquerque to work in Santa Fe, so consider the price of gas for that when evaluating your contract.

Santa Fe was amazing. Was there during the winter months so enjoyed skiing on my days off.

The staff are extremely friendly here and the facility is not bad, but there a few things that are hard to get used to for me. I work on the 2100 hall and depending on the charge nurse you can have a really bad shift. At this facility the ER doesn’t give report the charge tells you when you are getting an admit and you have about 10 mins to look up your patient. This particular charge will always give me 7 but I’ll have all of the open beds so sometimes I’ll start off with 4. Last week I had 7 with 3 open beds, all 4 of my patients had AMS with telesitters and I got 2 admits before I was even done getting report on my 4. I have never worked harder for such low pay and good luck finding housing for less than $1600 month. Overall have had some really bad shifts with this charge but also some really good shifts with the others, they are fair, helpful and they have no problem helping with admits.

Hospital: This is a small hospital. I worked in the ICU as a new grad staff nurse during COVID. My preceptor was amazing and I learned so much. Charge nurses were soo helpful. Most of the doctors were super knowledgeable, communicative, and some of them loved to teach. This was during COVID, so we had a lot of travelers, we had a separate COVID unit, and sometimes we had to be tripled due to staffing. The ICU team, the awesome skilled CNAs, the RT’s!!, the nurses, the doctors… are what made this place great. The teamwork and communication was top-notch. Being a traveler here: During COVID, most of the travelers were floated to the COVID unit. At this time, a lot of staff were unhappy about having so many travelers. This was Covid times… we all know… I don’t even need to get into that… The location, Santa Fe, NM: I was born and raised in this area. Santa Fe is pretty, with mountains all around and lots of hiking. It’s getting more and more expensive to live in Santa Fe and the surrounding areas. This is due in to a lot of wealthy people moving here from out of state, driving up prices. People here are friendly, but some people may not initially like out-of-staters for the above reason. If you keep it respectful, people will warm up to you though.

I relocated for this position and the toxic environment of the unit and management was intolerable. The unit was very immatire and gossipy, and the preceptors with exception to a few were condescending and belittling. Management was non-existent when it comes to communication and trying to correct the tension.i was repeatedly forced to defend myself with lack of support. This went all the way up the chain to HR. HR was just as toxic. I transferred to another unit but was well below my almost 20 years of CC experience and was just not happy and ended parting ways ASAP. An extreme waste of my time and money moving across country.

When transferred to this unit, the interim manager was absolutely amazing. But i was well below the high acuity level I was accustomed to and extremely unhappy considering i relocated across country to find out the previous position was extremely under managed and toxic. And nobody should have to work in a unit like that where you are treated so disrespectful and condescending. After I transferred, that manager stepped down from her position...surprise, surprise.
