  This is an easy assignment overall. The department is well staffed, including a designated lunch break nurse, which allows for consistent coverage and appropriate rest breaks. Ratios are typically 1:4, and the acuity is low, functioning more like an urgent care setting. The patient population is generally affluent and has high expectations regarding communication and updates (e.g., whiteboards, lab timing, next steps), but this is manageable given the staffing and workflow. The pod system is efficient, and the night shift supervisor is excellent — supportive, present, and helpful when needed. There is room for improvement at the director level to help streamline processes, but nothing that makes the assignment unmanageable. Overall, the staff is welcoming and supportive. I would return for another assignment.
