I had worked with Flexcare once before my last contract with no issues. My recruiter I had previously left for a different position and when I got a new recruiter everything went downhill. My first contract with the new recruiter got canceled 5 days before it began. Then the next contract I took with them, I signed a contract for guaranteed hours. I got put on call the very first week and my recruiter tried to tell me that on call hours count as part of the guaranteed hours and I would not get the base pay for the 36 hours. I spoke to different recruiters with different companies and many travel nurses at that facility which all informed me that it was not accurate information. It wasn't until I said I would be looking elsewhere for a contract that something was done about it. I got put on call almost once a week at that facility and they would never pay me the guaranteed hours. I had to reach out every week and wait for a week or two for the rest of my check to come through. I will never work with them again.
I really do not enjoy this agency at all. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They do NOT reimburse anything, no relocation, no state licenses. Absolutely nothing. I got my flu shot & they reimbursed me. They were still short $5 of that flu shot reimbursement. My recruiter I feel like is new, so he doesn't know a lot of things when it comes to travel or questions about assignments. He always has to ask someone else because he didn’t know. My recruiter also is not very good at communicating at all or checking to see how we are doing on the assignment. Then my first contract with them, I signed with a friend. Our contract said the same hospital, orientation week comes & told my recruiter we were placed in 2 different facilities.. then told me I should call HR to see why we are in different hospitals, when it should be the recruiters job to represent us. Now next assignment they do not want to pay the California state law of OT after 8hrs in a shift, because they supposedly are exempt from that law since “nurses of the agency voted on an alternate work week schedule” & only consider OT after 36 hrs. While other travelers with other agencies are getting OT pay after 8hrs in the shift. That California assignment my contract says ICU, it did NOT say ICU float pool or hospital float pool. We start the assignment & are floating every shift OUT of the icu… notified the recruiter, didn’t know what to say. So I spoke to the agency manager. She told me since I am an ICU nurse I am capable of working on any floor to take care of any patients… clearly she doesn’t know the difference of work flow between ICU & med surg but completely different work flows. She also failed to recognize that the hospital is not following their end of the contract (which is no surprise). Just can’t wait to maybe finish the assignment & be done with flexcare all together. Every day I go to work upset knowing my contract is not being followed by the hospital & the agency is doing nothing to represent me or advocate for me, all the while they’re collecting money from me. All they care about is the $. Very horrible 6 months working with them. Do not recommend at all.
I'm new to traveling and found flexcare using a good old Google search of good travel nurse companies. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for but I kept coming across flexcare so I decided to give them a shot. My recruiter is friendly and easy to reach when I have a question. My pay is good, but I'm starting to realize it probably could've been a lot higher with another company. With flexcare, you are not reimbursed for licensing, scrubs, or travel. When I asked my recruiter about this she stated flexcare gives you the highest amount they can upfront in the stipend to cover these costs. She says when companies do "reimburse" you it is simply coming out of money they already put aside for you while low-balling your stipend. Is this true? 🤔🤷♀️
Not the highest paying contracts but the recruiter is friendly and helpful.
Recruiter was helpful at the beginning but then he always called so we can talk about assignments; our first phone call, I told him either I start a short contract quick to end for the Christmas holidays or I’m going to be picky where I go if I have to work the holidays and that I wasn’t in a rush. He became pushy and wanted to submit me to places I didn’t want. He was insistent on me completing my profile. After not answering his calls (I’d text I would look at the job board and if I found something I’m interested, I’d let him know), he sent a text says how we lost money by waiting around. I guess my experience isn’t the first with this agency.
